Cal Poly Pomona Senior Photos: A Golden Hour Session to Remember

As a photographer who specializes in timeless and genuine portraits, senior photo sessions always hold a special place in my heart. Recently, I had the joy of photographing a beautiful Cal Poly Pomona senior session that perfectly blended personal touches, campus pride, and golden light.

A Meaningful Location for Graduation Memories

Cal Poly Pomona offers the perfect mix of natural scenery and classic architecture for senior portraits. With iconic spots like the Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, and the University Quad, it creates a stunning backdrop to commemorate years of hard work.

For this session, we started near the rose garden while the sun was still soft and warm. The blooming flowers added just the right pop of color and romance to the portraits. Then we strolled through campus pathways for some candid walking shots and ended at the Japanese Garden for a quiet, reflective moment. It felt like the perfect way to honor everything this senior had accomplished.

What to Wear for Cal Poly Pomona Senior Photos

When planning outfits for your Cal Poly Pomona senior session, you want to feel both comfortable and confident. I always recommend a mix of:

  • A classic look: Think dresses, button-downs, or sleek blazers in neutral or school colors.
  • A personal look: Something that reflects your personality or major—even cap and gown shots.
  • Practical shoes for walking campus, but don’t forget a dressier pair for portraits.

Layers, soft textures, and coordinating colors (not matchy-matchy) also look amazing against the campus greenery and warm sunset tones.

Tips for a Great Senior Session

Here are a few quick tips to make your Cal Poly Pomona senior photos unforgettable:

  • Plan around golden hour: That last hour before sunset gives the most flattering light.
  • Bring a friend or parent: They can help carry things and offer encouragement.
  • Think about your major: Want a quick shot outside your department building? Let me know in advance!
  • Don’t forget the little things: Clean nails, pressed clothes, and hydrated skin really do show up in photos.

Why Senior Sessions Matter

Graduating college is a huge milestone. It’s the end of a chapter and the beginning of something new. As your photographer, I aim to create images that you’ll love years from now—ones that feel like you and the place you worked so hard to succeed in.

That’s why I love offering Cal Poly Pomona senior photos. It’s not just about posing with your diploma—it’s about telling the story of where you’ve been and who you’re becoming.
